Driver killed in crash in western Montgomery County

A driver was killed early Thursday morning when his car overturned on Route 28 in western Montgomery County.

Kenneth James Lovelett, 58, was driving east when his car crossed the center line, drove through the westbound lane and off the road, struck a power pole, and flipped, Montgomery County police said. Police said that Lovelett was not wearing a seatbelt, and there were no known witnesses to the crash.

A two-mile stretch of Route 28, between Martinsburg Road and Beallsville Road, closed for nearly six hours after the crash. By 10 a.m., the road was partially open but required further work to fix the power pole, which split in half, according to police.
