Elvin Johnson fatally shot in Northeast Washington

D.C. police are investigating the shooting death of a 32-year-old man from Northeast Washington who died at a hospital in Prince George’s County early Tuesday, according to authorities.

The victim was identified as Elvin Jessie Johnson. Police said he was shot in the chest the hallway of an apartment building in the 4200 block of Foote Street NE, near the Minnesota Avenue Metro station.

Officer Araz Alali said the shooting occurred about 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, and that Johnson was driven to a hospital by a relative. He died early Wednesday. Police did not disclose the shooting until Thursday morning.

Police said they knew of no motive and had no suspect in the case.
