Former Pr. George’s teacher’s aide sentenced for sex abuse

A former Prince George’s County teacher’s aide pleaded guilty Friday to sexually abusing a Glenn Dale Elementary School student, officials said.

A judge sentenced Jason Jamar Howard of Riverdale to 25 years in prison.

Because of his plea, all but 10 years of Howard’s sentence was suspended. Howard will have to register as a sex offender and report to a parole and probation officer for the rest of his life, authorities said.

Howard was arrested in April.

School staff reported seeing him touching an 8-year-old student at school, according to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.

“Howard had the victim sit on his hand and he proceeded to fondle her,” said a news release reporting Howard’s sentence.
