Girl, 6, dies after becoming entangled in cords of window covering

A 6-year-old girl died Saturday afternoon after becoming entangled in a cords from a window blind in her Suitland home, according to the Prince George’s County Fire Department.

The girl, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at an area hospital, fire spokesman Mark Brady said. In a statement, he said a relative of the girl called 911 about 12:30 p.m. and reported that the child was unconscious in the house, in the 6700 block of Larkspur Road, near Suitland Parkway and the Capital Beltway.

A cause of death has not yet been determined.

Prince George’s County fire officials issued a reminder to parents to keep such cords out of the reach of small children. Authorities said that Prince George’s County police are also involved in the investigation.
