In Woodbridge, police investigate hit-and-run fatality

A man was killed Sunday evening after a hit-and-run accident in Woodbridge, Prince William County police said.

Police say that about 7 p.m., Pastoo Pereire of Woodbridge was crossing Occoquan Road near the intersection of Vineyard Way when he was struck by a vehicle headed north on Occoquan Road. The vehicle left the scene before police arrived, according to police.

Pereire died at the scene as a “result of injuries sustained during the collision,” police said. Police said they did not know Pereire’s age and they did not have a description of the vehicle involved.

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
