District judicial officials announced Tuesday they have begun the search for a new judge to serve on the D.C. Court of Appeals as a result of the announced Dec. 15 retirement of Judge Kathryn Oberly.
The D.C. Judicial Nomination Commission is seeking recommendations of attorneys who reside in the District. The application deadline is Oct. 25. More information is available on the commission’s Web site, www.jnc.dc.gov.
The commission will select three people as nominees to fill the vacancy, then will submit the names to President Obama, who will select one for the position.
