A letter carrier was robbed Tuesday afternoon in a Northeast Washington neighborhood near Fort Totten and Catholic University.
Two robbers confronted the postal service worker in the unit block of Hawaii Avenue NE, and forced him back into his mail truck, authorities said. He was tied up and keys and a wallet were taken, according to accounts from the D.C. police and the Postal Inspection Service.
It was not clear whether any mail was also taken.
The victim was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries, which were not regarded as life-threatening, the police said.
The matter was being investigated Tuesday night.
