Loudoun County park closed due to vandalism

Vandals wreaked extensive damage at Purcellville’s Franklin Park either late Friday night or early Saturday morning, according to Loudoun County law enforcement officials, who have temporarily closed the park to investigate.

The vandals “accessed work trucks” at the park and caused damage worth an estimated $25,000 to both grounds and structures, according to a press release from the county sheriff’s office.

A spokeswoman did not immediately respond to requests for more information.

Officials are asking anyone with more information to call the sheriff’s office at 703-777-1021 or, if callers want to remain anonymous, 703-777-1919.

Tipsters who offer information that leads to an arrest and indictment could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
