Man dies of injuries following Fairfax crash

A 20-year-old Falls Church man has died from injuries he sustained in a crash involving a driver who had allegedly been drinking, Fairfax County police said.

Israel Ibarra de la Cruz was riding his motorcycle westbound on Leesburg Pike about 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 when a Ford Expedition made a left-turn into his path to enter a shopping center near Patterson Road, police said.

The Ford’s driver, Santos A. Perez, 34, of Falls Church caused the collision, police said. A 34-year-old woman and a 4-year-old girl were passengers in the Expedition. Perez and his passengers were uninjured.

Ibarra de la Cruz was transported to a hospital, where he died Nov. 8.

Perez has been charged with DWI, police said. The investigation is continuing.
