Man jumps to death off Union Station parking garage, D.C. police say

A man apparently committed suicide Friday afternoon by jumping off the top of the Union Station parking garage in Northeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said the man was pronounced dead on the scene. It occurred about 1 p.m. in the 700 block of First Street NE. near the National Postal Museum and Massachusetts Avenue.

The man’s identity was not immediately released. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.
