Man shot in Bloomingdale in Northwest D.C.

A man was shot and seriously wounded Monday night in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of Northwest Washington, D.C. police said.

Responding officers found the victim conscious and breathing after the attack near the intersection of 1st and Q streets about 8:37 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman. Authorities brought the victim to a hospital in serious condition.

Police were searching for two males who fled the scene: one was described as black with a tall and slender build, and he reportedly was wearing blue jeans. The second was a short, light-complexioned black male in a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee.

A motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
