Missing Fairfax County student’s body is identified

By ,

Authorities identified the body found Monday in a wooded area of Fairfax County as 17-year-old Bryan Glenn, a W.T. Woodson High School senior who had been missing for a week.

Police did not release the cause and manner of Glenn’s death Tuesday, saying they are waiting for a state medical examiner to make that determination.

“While the investigation is continuing, there doesn’t appear to be any threat to the public at this point,” Fairfax County police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said.

Glenn’s disappearance touched off a search that involved dozens of police officers, firefighters, volunteers, dogs and a police helicopter. A search party of volunteers found the body Monday afternoon in a deeply wooded area of Thaiss Park, in Fairfax City.

Glenn was last seen Oct. 1 at a Dunkin’ Donuts after he dropped his brother off at Woodson. Police found his car about 3 a.m. the next day at the park, which is near the school.

The Glenn family identified the body Monday and released a statement saying that the support and help received “touched our hearts forever.”
