Montgomery County 18-year-old drowns in Ocean City rip current

An 18-year-old Montgomery County man died Monday after being caught in an Ocean City rip current, officials said Tuesday.

Don Pen Soh Boma, from Burtonsville, had entered the water with two other swimmers Monday afternoon. All reportedly got caught in the rip current. Beach Patrol rescuers rushed into the water, rescued two of the swimmers, but couldn’t immediately find Boma. He was eventually found, treated at the scene and taken to Atlantic General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Our most heartfelt sympathies go out to the family, friends and loved ones of the victim,” an Ocean City spokeswoman said.
