Person found dead after car fire on Brock Bridge Road in Prince George’s

Prince George’s County fire and police officials are investigating the cause of a car fire in the Laurel area that has left one person dead.

Firefighters were called to put out a fire on Brock Bridge Road just before Route 197 at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. After they put the fire out, they found the dead person at the scene, said Prince George’s fire spokesman Mark Brady. He said he did not know if the person was found in or near the car.

“Our main objective is to determine the cause and origin of the fire and police are there to determine other criminal activity,” Brady said. “We’re not sure yet if it is something accidental or intentional.”

Brady said the investigation is ongoing and it is unclear whether this car fire is related to an incident reported Wednesday morning in which several cars were found burning in the parking lot of Watkins Regional Park in Upper Marlboro this morning.
