Police arrest man in fatal shooting last month in Barry Farm neighborhood

A 28-year-old man was arrested Monday morning in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred last month in the Barry Farm neighborhood in Southeast Washington.

Tsihnik Cavallero, of Southeast, was charged with second degree murder while armed. Officer Araz Alali, a D.C. police spokesman, said the suspect was arrested about 9:15 a.m. on Monday.

Cavallero has not yet had his initial court appearance, which is when more details about the slaying will be released. It occurred Jan. 24 about 2:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Stevens Road SE. The victim was identified as Marcus Minor, 21, of Northeast.

Police have not divulged a possible motive.

Earlier that same day, police said a man was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Northeast. Police have said the two cases are not related.
