A 23-year-old Woodbridge man has been charged with burglary with intent to commit rape and sexual assault and battery, according to Arlington County police.

Police said that in the early morning hours of Feb. 16, Joshua Barrett entered the victim’s apartment in the 4500 block of Arlington Boulevard by breaking a window on the rear door. He entered the victim’s bedroom and began to fondle her as she slept.

The 36-year-old woman woke up to find Barrett was lying next to her and screamed. She ran to the lobby of her apartment building and called police.

Police searched the building and found a man that looked like Barrett standing outside the rear of the apartment building. He ran and police chased him. He was caught and arrested.
