Police said the driver of the truck continued about a half block until he realized he had hit someone. At that point, he stopped and called 911. No charges have been filed, but police said the accident remains under investigation.

Police did not say whether the driver worked for the District or a private trash hauler. Images from television news from the scene showed that the truck was from a private company, with a Virginia number written on the side.

Police are asking anyone with information about Flores or the incident to call 202-727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411.
