Police investigating fatal pedestrian crash on Southeast Freeway

A man walking along the Southeast Freeway Wednesday night was struck and killed by a car, according to D.C. police.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was in a westbound lane of the highway near 7th Street Southeast, police said. The accident occurred about 11:55 p.m. on the highway, also called I-695. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed against the driver of the 2004 Cadillac sport utility vehicle, though police said the investigation is continuing. Police are asking anyone who saw it or has information to call them at 202-727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 59411.
