Police looking for man who sexually assaulted and robbed woman near Metro stop

Police are looking for a man they say sexually assaulted a woman after holding a knife to her near the Prince George’s Plaza Metro stop in Hyattsville early Sunday morning.

Hyattsville City Police said the woman was walking home from the Metro stop around 2:07 a.m. when a man approached her from behind and held a knife to her. It was not known where he held the knife.

He then took her behind a trash bin that was behind a set of shops near the Metro. He stole her wallet and cellphone before sexually assaulting her.

Police said the man fled across the street, toward the Metro stop. They believe he may have tried to board the Metro or hail a cab. He got into an altercation with a cab driver, according to police, before fleeing on foot into the city of Hyattsville.

The man is described as being between 20 and 30 years old with shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was seen wearing an orange and black hat, an orange shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident.
