Prince George’s police arrest man barricaded inside College Park hotel room

Prince George’s County police early Friday morning took into custody an armed man who barricaded himself inside his College Park, Md., hotel room.

Officer Nicole Hubbard, a department spokeswoman, said the man was inside a room at a Holiday Inn in the 10000 block of Baltimore Avenue on Thursday night, when he threatened to harm himself.

Authorities were called to the hotel at 10:45 p.m. and rooms adjacent to his were evacuated.

Hubbard said officers took the man into custody just before 2:30 a.m. Friday. She said authorities recovered a weapon.

It was not clear what sparked the incident or how police took the man into custody.

Hubbard, who said the man was taken for an emergency evaluation, said further details about him or the arrest were not available.
