Pr. George’s police “Gift Cards for Gun” event aims to prevent gun violence

December 16, 2013

The Prince George’s County Police Department collected 85 guns in a “Gift Cards for Guns” event Saturday.

The program, aimed at preventing gun violence, offered people a gift card of up to $150 for their firearms.

Another gun trade-in will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Glenarden, 3600 Brightseat Rd., in Landover.

Guns don’t need to be working to be eligible for a gift card. BB and pellet guns are excluded.

Guns should be unloaded and in the car trunk before reaching the Gift Cards of Guns location.
