Pr. William woman struck by car, killed while walking dog on sidewalk

A woman walking her dog Saturday on a Woodbridge sidewalk was struck and killed by a driver who veered off the roadway, Prince William County police said.

The 21-year-old driver, whose name was not released, lost control of his BMW 328i while driving east on Old Bridge Road near Clipper Drive in Woodbridge, police said. Zenaida Ines Jimenez, 58, of Woodbridge, was struck. She was pronounced dead a short time later at an area hospital. The dog was not hurt.

“At this point in the investigation, speed, alcohol and drug use are not believed to be factors in the crash,” police said in a statement.

No charges have been filed, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation, Officer Jonathan Perok, a police spokesman, said Monday.
