Suspected jewelry thieves hit store in Montgomery; one distracts clerk, other swipes

A woman posing as a customer inside a Montgomery County jewelry store distracted an employee long enough for her accomplice to swipe two diamond rings with a total value of more than $20,000, police said Thursday as they released surveillance images of the suspects in hopes that someone will recognize them.

The pair walked into Masica Diamonds, 11763 Rockville Pike, about 2:10 p.m. Dec. 16, according to Montgomery police.
