Teen is stabbed in Alexandria as groups fight

A teenager suffered life-threatening wounds in Alexandria Tuesday evening when he was stabbed during a fight between two groups, authorities said.

The stabbing occurred about 7 p.m. in the 5400 block of N. Morgan Street, on the west side of the city.

The victim, described as being in his late teens, was found with one or more wounds in his abdomen by police who were called there for a report of a fight.

Police spokeswoman Ashley Hildebrandt said preliminary investigation indicated that he had gone there with “a group” of friends. They encountered “another group” and an altercation occurred, she said. The size of the groups was not clear.
