Toddler struck, killed by car in Southeast

A 3-year-old girl was struck by a car and killed in Southeast Washington on Friday evening, D.C. police said.

Police said that Samiya Holmes walked into the street on the 4000 block of Alabama Avenue SE shortly before 5 p.m. and was hit by a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. She died soon afterward at a local hospital.

The driver has not been charged, and police said that the investigation into the crash is still in progress.
