Two dead in crash in Hyattsville, according to Prince George’s County police

The driver and a passenger in a Toyota Camry were killed Friday morning when they where hit by a car whose driver lost control at an intersection in Hyattsville, according to Prince George’s County police.

The victims were identified as Jose Cuevas Raudes, 38, of Hyattsville, and Dilicia Gutierrez Vasquez, 33. Police said Raudes was pronounced dead on the scene; Vasquez, whose address was not provided, died at an area hospital.

Police said the accident occurred about 6 a.m. at Riggs Road and Drexel Street. Raudes was driving east on Drexel, police said, and was turning onto Riggs Road when his vehicle was stuck by an Acura whose driver was headed south on Riggs.

Police said the driver of the Acura had lost control, went off the road, and then swerved into the northbound lane of Riggs, hitting the Toyota. The driver of the Acura was injured, but the injuries were not considered life threatening.

In a statement, Prince George’s County police said that the cause of the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
