Two shootings wound two people in Anacostia

December 3, 2013

Two men were shot and wounded Monday night in separate attacks that happened about an hour apart and within a half-mile of each other in Anacostia, D.C. police said.

Officials did not immediately link the two violent episodes, which began when a man was seriously wounded by gunfire in the 1500 block of U Street SE about 9:45 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a police spokesman. The victim was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

A little more than a hour later, police responded to another shooting just about three blocks away in the 1900 block of 17th Street SE and found a man shot multiple times, officials said. The victim suffered critical injuries, police said.

No further information could be learned about a motive in either shooting.
