A high school teacher was arrested Monday and charged with repeatedly assaulting a 17-year-old student.
Prince William County police said that Donald L. Gallitz, 41, twice struck the young man, who was in his class, and once attacked him in an unspecified manner on school property at Forest Park High School. The alleged assaults occurred between November 2013 and January 2014.
The investigation began in April, and Gallitz was put on leave at that time, according to Philip Kavits, a Prince William schools spokesperson. Gallitz has been charged with three counts of assault and battery.
Kavits said that Gallitz taught television production classes at Forest Park in Woodbridge and coached a girls’ basketball team. He was previously accused of assaulting one of his girl players and was placed on leave during that investigation as well, but was not prosecuted.
Gallitz could not immediately be reached for comment. It was not clear whether he has a lawyer.
