Water main bursts, shuts down Duke Street

Alexandria authorities shut down traffic along Duke Street Thursday night due to a broken water main, officials said.

The main broke near the intersection with North Jordan Street, about a mile east of Landmark Mall, just after 7 p.m., officials said. Police shut down eastbound and westbound traffic on Duke Street and cautioned drivers to avoid the area.

It was not immediately clear when repairs would be completed.
