Woman on moped struck by truck in Tenleytown dies of her injuries

A woman driving a moped who was struck by a truck Friday morning in Northwest Washington’s Tenleytown neighborhood has died of her injuries, according to D.C. police.

The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. in the 4900 block of Connecticut Avenue NW, between Ellicott Street and Nebraska Avenue. The driver of the truck stayed at the scene; the woman died later at a hospital, said Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman.

The accident remained under investigation and no other details were immediately released. It occurred almost in front of the D.C. fire station housing Engine 31.

Tim Wilson, a fire department spokesman, said a bystander alerted firefighters inside, who sounded an alarm and rushed to help the woman. The station’s medic was on another call, but another ambulance responded.
