Woman stabbed while watching Fourth of July fireworks

A 65-year-old woman was stabbed by a stranger while watching fireworks with her friends in a Falls Church area parking lot on the Fourth of July.

Fairfax County police are searching for a man described only as 18 to 20 years old with light blond hair. He reportedly approached the victim from behind while she and her friends were watching fireworks in a shopping center parking lot on Leesburg Pike, across the street from George Mason High School. He stabbed her in her upper body, then ran away.

The victim was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.

A witness chased the woman’s assailant but lost sight of him. Additional witnesses are encouraged to call police at 1-866-411-TIPS or visit www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org.
