Cat found alone: Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. SW, 4600 block, July 31. A cat that was discovered abandoned in an apartment was impounded.
Due to a report: Foote St. NE, 4100 block, Aug. 1. A Humane Society officer responded to a call about a 10-month-old pit bull that was tethered outdoors without water or shelter. The officer met with the dog’s owner, who decided to surrender the animal.
Cat sprays home: Simms Pl. NE, 1200 block, Aug. 4. A Humane Society officer responded to a call about a cat living in unsanitary conditions. The officer met with its owner, who explained that the cat had just started spraying the apartment and that the owner planned to have the cat neutered.
Adoptable cats: New York Ave. NE, 1200 block. A stray 2-year-old cat was taken to the shelter April 17, and a 1-year-old cat was surrendered by an owner July 19.

Care cut short: Crittenden St. NE, unit block, July 25. A woman took a 2-year-old cat, which she had found as a stray and fed for two months, to the league. She was moving and could not take the animal along.
Owner moves: Madison St. NW, 700 block, Aug. 4. A man relinquished an 8-year-old hound mix to the league because he was moving.
Can’t take two: Jocelyn St., 3800 block, Aug. 5. A woman who had just had a baby surrendered a 3-month-old Chihuahua to the league.
