HOMICIDES

Seventh St., 1700 block, 10:38 p.m. July 7. Michael Edward Jones, 30, of the District and an unidentified male were found lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other person was admitted to a hospital. A man, 21, was arrested.

ROBBERIES

Alabama Ave., 1500 block, 11:25 to 11:30 a.m. July 6. A male youth approached a male on a staircase in a parking area and demanded his shoes. The robber pulled out a 9mm gun and pointed it at the male’s head. The male complied, and the robber fled with the shoes.

Alabama Ave., 1800 block, 9:57 to 10:15 a.m. July 10. Two males approached a male pedestrian from the rear. One punched his arm, causing him to drop his cellphone. The robber retrieved the cellphone and fled with his accomplice.

Gainesville St., 3000 block, 8 p.m. July 6. Two male youths chased and attempted to rob a male. A female witness intervened, and the robbers fled. Nothing was reported taken.

Jasper St., 2700 block, 7:45 p.m. July 9. A male youth was tampering with another male’s bicycle. When the owner of the bicycle told him to leave it alone, the youth picked up a metal pipe and hit the bike owner’s arm and helmet, causing the helmet to break. After the bike owner shouted for police, the youth fled with another youth.

Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., 1900 block, 5:58 a.m. July 7. A male youth snatched a wallet from a female at a bus stop.

Naylor Rd., 2800 block, 4:53 p.m. July 9. Three males approached a female from behind. She was choked and robbed of a purse.

Pomeroy Rd., 2500 block, 11:20 p.m. July 8. Four males approached a man standing outside in a parking area. Two showed knives and demanded property. The man was robbed of his vehicle and money.

Stevens Rd., 1300 block, 12:15 a.m. July 7. A male youth approached a seated female from the rear and snatched a cellphone from her hand.

Seventh and E streets, 12:29 p.m. July 6. A cellphone was snatched from a female pedestrian’s hand.

Seventh St., 700 block, 8:49 a.m. July 5. A person attempted to snatch a female pedestrian’s cellphone. A struggled ensued, and the robber fled. Nothing was reported taken.

Eighth St., 500 block, 8:41 p.m. July 6. A person approached a female sitting at a bar and took a wallet from her purse. The person left and fled in a maroon vehicle. The person then threw the wallet out of the vehicle. The wallet was recovered.

13th St. and Pennsylvania Ave., 5:45 p.m. July 5. A male attempted to snatch a wallet from a female’s hand. The female screamed, and the man let go of the wallet and fled.

13th St., 3400 block, 11 p.m. July 7. A gunman forced a male to go into a building, then robbed of him of property and ordered him to leave the area.

15th St. and Kentucky Ave., 5:14 p.m. July 6. A person on a red BMX bike approached a male pedestrian from behind and snatched his iPhone.

16th St. and Minnesota Ave., 12:30 to 12:40 p.m. July 7. Two males approached a female while she was waiting for a bus. One showed a silver knife and demanded her iPhone. When she attempted to flee, the robber ripped her shirt and snatched the phone from her hand. The two fled on foot.

24th St., 3100 block, 10:10 to 10:20 p.m. July 7. Two males punched a female acquaintance in the face and robbed her of property. The robbers fled with another female.

57th Pl., 100 block, 8:35 p.m. July 9. A male approached two pedestrians, pointed a handgun at them and robbed them of property.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

Benning Rd., 4643 block, 7 p.m. July 2 to 1:40 p.m. July 5. Property was stolen from an apartment entered through a front kitchen window.

E St., 1500 block, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. July 9. Property was stolen from an area.

G St., 4400 block, 11:30 p.m. July 4 to 9:05 a.m. July 5. A residence was entered by smashing a rear glass door. Nothing was reported taken.

L St., 800 block, 6:30 p.m. July 3 to 4:30 p.m. July 5. Property was stolen from an area.

Livingston Terr., 300 block, 11:33 p.m. July 4 to 12:57 a.m. July 5. Property was stolen from a residence entered through the front door.

Mississippi Ave., 30 block, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 7. Shoes were stolen from an apartment. A bedroom door was pried open.

Naylor Rd., 2600 block, 4:05 to 4:11 a.m. July 7. Property was stolen from a residence.

Newcomb St., 200 block, 12:10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. July 5. Property was stolen from a residence. There was no sign of forced entry.

Savannah Terr., 2100 block, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 8. A residence was forcibly entered, and property was stolen.

30th St., 3000 block, 5 p.m. July 3 to noon July 9. An apartment was entered by kicking a rear door, and property was stolen.

44th Pl., 1300 block, 11:30 p.m. July 5. A residence was entered through a kitchen window, and property was stolen. The alleged intruder was an acquaintance of a resident of the house.
