D.C. police investigate apparent domestic slaying in Southwest

D.C. police are investigating what authorities say appears to be a fatal shooting related to a domestic argument that occurred early Thursday in an apartment building in Southwest Washington.

Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said that the victim is an adult male who was shot in the head and pronounced dead on the scene. Alali said a woman who appears to be be the victim’s wife has been arrested.

Identities were not immediately released Thursday morning pending notification of relatives and the filing of charges. The shooting occurred a few minutes after midnight in a building a block south of the Waterfront Metro station.

Police have not said what they think the motive was.

Authorities also reported other shootings in the District on Wednesday and Thursday.

Alali said that a man was shot in the buttocks about 1:15 a.m. Thursday while walking along 18th Street at Massachusetts Avenue, in Southeast Washington.

And police said two people were shot late Wednesday afternoon in Northeast. It occurred about 4:30 p.m in the 700 block of 24th St. Police said one victim was found nearby in the 2300 block of G St., the other in the 500 block of 23rd Place.

They had no other details but said the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
