D.C.’s Marion Barry is back in the hospital

Marion Barry has returned to an area hospital, a representative said, two weeks after completing an extended hospitalization.

LaToya Foster, a spokeswoman for the former four-term mayor, said he was admitted to an area hospital on Monday. She declined to disclose which hospital or details of his medical condition, but she said he was not at Howard University Hospital, where he was recently hospitalized for 16 days recovering from what friends said was a blood infection.

Barry, who is less than a month from his 78th birthday, has a history of health problems.

Foster said Barry was conscious and talking on the phone earlier Tuesday. “Is he feeling his greatest? No. But he’s his typical self.”
