Maryland legalizes same-sex marriage

On Thursday, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley signed into law a bill that allows same-sex marriages. Maryland joins seven other states and the District in allowing gay nuptuals, though the Maryland law does not go into effect until 2013.
