A 56-year-old District man was found guilty Tuesday of supplying heroin to a drug ring that operated in a Southeast Washington housing complex.

Prosecutors said that Heyward Sanders was convicted by a federal jury in the District of conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute heroin; he faces a maximum 40 years in prison at his sentencing before U.S. District Judge Thomas F. Hogan on July 14. Sanders supplied heroin over a two-year period that ended in 2010 to a ring that sold the drug in around the Potomac Gardens housing complex, prosecutors said.
