Elderly, teens most-struck pedestrians

In 2009, traffic accidents killed more than 4,000 pedestrians and injured an estimated 59,000. Three-quarters of pedestrian fatalities occurred at non-intersections versus at intersections. Elderly pedestrians suffered the highest rates of death, and teenage pedestrians had the most injuries. Read related article.
