The following incidents were reported by the animal control division of the Fairfax County Police Department for this edition of Local Living. For information, call 703-246-2253.
Skunk tested for rabies: Willow Valley Rd., 5500 block, 8:30 a.m. Aug. 16. A German shorthaired pointer fought with a skunk and killed it. The skunk was taken for rabies testing. The dog was not injured and received a rabies booster shot.
Dog abandoned: Colony Point Rd., 8100 block, 2:40 p.m. Aug. 17. A brown and white pit bull mix was left tied to a pole. After attempts to find the owner failed, the dog was taken to the Fairfax County animal shelter.
Raccoon, two dogs fight: Cedrus Lane, 1100 block, 4:20 p.m. Aug. 18. Two rat terriers fought with a raccoon. The dogs’ owner killed the raccoon, which was taken for rabies testing. The dogs were placed under quarantine.
Dog abandoned: Spectrum Center, 11800 block, 4:20 a.m. Aug. 21. A young American pit bull was left tied to a sign in front of a store. The dog’s owner could not be identified. The dog was taken to the Fairfax County animal shelter.

No incidents were reported by the Vienna Police Department. For information, call 703-255-6396.
