The following incidents were reported by the Animal Control Division of the Fairfax County Police Department. For information, call 703-246-2253.

Dog on the loose bites woman: Mariposa Pl., 3900 block, 4:45 p.m. Sept. 30. A pit bull terrier, running at large, bit a woman. The 5-year-old dog was placed under quarantine.

Fairfax City

Opossum in laundry room: Flintlock Rd., 3100 block, Sept. 28. A man reported seeing an opossum in his laundry room, but it was gone when animal control arrived. A humane trap was left, and the opossum was later trapped and released outdoors.

Cat adoption event: Fairfax City’s Animal Control Division will hold a cat adoption clinic at the Town and Country Animal Hospital, 9836 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 20. 703-385-7919.

Vienna

The following incidents were reported by the Vienna Police Department. For information, call 703-255-6396.

Dog bites male: Maple Ave. E., 300 block, 3:07 p.m. Sept. 29. A dog, tied to the entrance of a coffee shop, bit a male. The dog was placed under quarantine.

Dog bites animal hospital employee: Park St. SE, 100 block, noon Oct. 2. A cat bit an animal hospital employee on the thumb as she examined his mouth. Animal control will follow up on the incident.
