The following incidents were reported by the Animal Control Division of the Fairfax County Police Department. For information, call 703-246-2253.

Dog bites child: Tessie Terr., 5300 block, 1:50 p.m. May 8. A pit bull terrier ran out and bit a girl playing in an adjacent courtyard. She was treated at a hospital. The dog was taken to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter and quarantined.

Schnauzer bites woman: Oakland Park Dr., 5900 block, 2:20 p.m. May 4. A Schnauzer ran up to a woman walking on a sidewalk and bit her on the hand. The dog was quarantined. The woman was not seriously injured.

Lhasa Apso bites woman: Commons Dr., 4700 block, 3:20 p.m. May 4. A woman said a Lhasa Apso bit her. She was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The dog was quarantined.

Fairfax City

The following incidents were received from the animal control section of the Fairfax City Police Department. For information, call 703-385-7924 or go to www.fairfaxva.gov and click on “Animal Control” on the police department’s main page.

Dog locked in vehicle: Old Lee Hwy., 3200 block, 1:23 p.m. May 10. Animal control was called about a dog locked inside a vehicle. The owner was issued a summons for failing to provide adequate shelter.

Gosling found in yard: Egan Dr., 3800 block, May 8. A woman said a gosling would not leave her yard. The gosling was taken to a wildlife rehabilitator.

Baby bird saved: Burrows Ave., 3400 block, May 8. A bird’s nest was knocked to the pavement during a storm. One baby grackle was found alive in the nest and was taken to a wildlife rehabilitator.

Dog bites man: Daniel’s Run Park, 6 p.m. May 3. A dog being walked on a leash bit a man walking in the park. The dog had a current rabies vaccination and was quarantined for 10 days at home.

Vienna

The following incident was reported by the Vienna Police Department. For information, call 703-255-6396.

Dog bites hospital employee: Park St. SE, 100 block, 7 a.m. May 5. A dog bit an animal hospital employee during a procedure. The dog was quarantined at home.

Dog follows family home: Edwin Lane NE, 300 block, 3:45 p.m. May 2. A dog followed a family home from a walk. The dog was taken to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.

Stray found in yard: Ware St. SW, 1100 block, 5:09 p.m. May 4. A stray dog wandered into a man’s back yard. It was taken to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
