FAIRFAX COUNTY

The following incidents were reported by the Animal Control Division of the Fairfax County Police Department. For information, call 703-246-2253.

Woman is bitten by dog: Fieldthorn Dr., 1600 block, noon May 5. A female pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk when a springer spaniel bit her on the leg. The woman received a minor injury and the dog was quarantined.

Boy is bitten by a dog: Legacy Cir., 13600 block, May 5. A Brittany spaniel bit a boy on the leg. The dog was quarantined.

Dog bites man’s hand: Thurlton Dr., 6600 block, 10:30 a.m. May 2. A woman was walking a dog when it bit a male pedestrian on the hand. The man received a minor injury.

FAIRFAX CITY

The following incidents were reported by the animal control section of the Fairfax City Police Department. For information, call 703-385-7924 or go to www.fairfaxva.gov and click on “Animal Control” on the department’s main page.

Reunited after two days: Main St., 9400 block, May 4. A dog that was found running loose in a shopping center parking lot was taken to the shelter. The Labrador-pit bull mix was claimed by its owner.

Cat dislikes being restrained: Fairfax Blvd., 9800 block, May 7. A cat bit an employee’s hands while it was being held during a medical treatment. The cat was quarantined.

Fight results in injury: Old Lee Hwy., 3700 block, April 4. A man was walking his two dogs in a park and the dogs got into a fight. He was bitten on the finger when he attempted to separate them. The owner was advised to quarantine the Labrador-Chow mix.

Cat adoption event: The City of Fairfax Animal Control Division will have cats available for adoption from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Pets Supplies Plus, 11054 Lee Hwy., Fairfax. 703-385-7924.

Vienna

The following incidents were reported by the Vienna Police Department. For information, call 703-255-6396.

Dog bites during treatment: Park St. SE, 100 block, 3 p.m. May 1. An employee was bitten by a dog while attempting to perform a medical procedure. The dog was quarantined.

Fox dies from injuries: Spring St. SE, 600 block, 6:41 a.m. May 2. A resident reported that an injured fox was in the back yard. An animal control officer found the fox and determined it could not be saved.

Dog bites girl: Talahi Rd. SE, 200 block, 9 a.m. May 2 to 9:18 a.m. May 3. A girl was bitten by a neighbor’s dog.

Dying cat bites: Park St. SE, 100 block, 11 a.m. May 2. An employee was bitten by a cat, which needed a medical procedure. The cat could not be saved and was taken to the shelter for rabies testing.
