Fair Lakes Shopping Center, 12900 block. Golf clubs were stolen from a business.

Fair Oaks Shopping Center, 11700 block. Cash was stolen from a business.

Fair Oaks Shopping Center, 12000 block. Sunglasses were stolen from a business.

Fair Ridge Dr., 3900 block. Jewelry was stolen from a residence.

Flintwood Pl., 13600 block. A flashlight was stolen from a vehicle.

Kinross Cir., 3100 block. A Global Positioning System device was stolen from a vehicle.

Majestic Lane, 4200 block. Tools were stolen from a vehicle.

Pender Dr., 3900 block, 2 p.m. Oct. 8. While a UPS driver was stacking boxes next to his vehicle, a man took one of the boxes and walked away. An 18-year-old Lorton man was charged with grand larceny.

Pine Forest Cir., 12100 block. Tools were stolen from a vehicle.

Price Club Plaza, 12200 block. An iPad was stolen from a business.

Ranger Rd., 3100 block. Plants were stolen from a residence.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

Cavalier Landing Ct., 11600 block. A 2005 Toyota Corolla was stolen.

FRANCONIA DISTRICT

HOMICIDES

Broadmoor St., 5400 block, 2 a.m. Oct. 7. Mark Earl Ives, 30, of Alexandria was found dead. An investigation revealed that he had died of trauma to the upper body. A 30-year-old male acquaintance, of Springfield, was charged with murder.

ROBBERIES

Shepherd Hills Ct., 7800 block, 9:20 p.m. Oct. 7. Three people, one with a gun, demanded cash from a male pedestrian. The man attempted to run, and they stopped him, punched him and robbed him of cash. Minor injuries were reported.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

Coverdale Way, 5900 block. Four wheels were stolen from a vehicle.

Halifax Pl., 7200 block. A laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle.

Highland Meadows Ct., 7000 block. Cash was stolen from a vehicle.

Iron Pl., 6600 block. Neon signs were stolen from a vehicle.

Lavender Lane, 7200 block. Ladders were stolen from a residence.

Mims St., 8100 block. Tires were stolen from a business.

Ravensworth Rd., 5000 block, 4:50 a.m. Oct. 4. Someone found a stranger in his residence. A 38-year-old Burke man was charged with unlawful entry and larceny.

Springfield Plaza, 6300 block. A purse was stolen from a business.

Stana Ct., 7600 block. Air bags were stolen from a vehicle.

Thomas Dr., 6200 block. Video game systems were stolen from a residence.

ASSAULTS

Leesburg Pike, 6000 block, 9 p.m. Oct. 4. Police were called about a woman shouting at customers in a business. The woman struck an officer on the arm as she was being arrested. A 65-year-old Springfield woman was charged with assaulting a police officer, disorderly conduct and trespassing.

ASSAULTS

Fairchild Dr., 7100 block, 10 p.m. Oct. 4. A woman reported that a male acquaintance had struck her and fired a pistol several times. An 18-year-old Alexandria man was charged with domestic assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.

ROBBERIES

Huntington Ave., 2300 block, 1:30 p.m. Oct. 9. Three people with handguns robbed customers and employees of cash and cigarettes at a business.

North Kings Hwy., 6200 block, 6 p.m. Oct. 9. A man entered three businesses, implied he had a weapon and demanded cash. A 40-year-old Alexandria man was charged with robbery.

Arcturus Lane, 1100 block. A laptop computer was stolen from a vehicle.

Richmond Hwy., 8700 block, 12:30 a.m. Oct. 10. Police, responding to an alarm at a business, found a front door shattered. Nothing was reported stolen.

Little River Tpk., 8300 block, 8:30 p.m. Oct. 4. A man arranged to meet a stranger to sell him a cellphone. When they met, the stranger punched him in the abdomen and fled with the cellphone.

Fairfax Blvd., 9500 block, June 1 to Oct. 5. A license plate was stolen from a boat trailer.

Jermantown Rd., 4000 block, 8 p.m. Oct. 1. A cellphone, left in a restroom at a fast- food restaurant, was stolen.

Jermantown Rd., 4000 block, noon Oct. 4. A security officer in a store saw a man conceal merchandise and attempt to leave. A 49-year-old Maryland man was charged with larceny.

Lord Culpeper Lane, 4100 block, Sept. 23 to Oct. 6. A diamond ring was stolen from a residence.

Main St., 9600 block, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6. A cellphone and two bags containing camera equipment were stolen from a vehicle in a parking lot.

Willard Way, 10300 block, 7:26 p.m. Oct. 6. A male stole a bottle of liquor from a liquor store.

VANDALISM

Fairfax Blvd., 9400 block, Oct. 5 to Oct. 7. A six-foot-long scratch was made on a vehicle.

Jermantown Rd., 3700 block, 5:35 p.m. Oct. 5. A rock was thrown through a window of an apartment.

Broad St. W., 1000 block, Oct. 4. A woman struck two pharmacy employees when they confronted her about shoplifting. A 31-year-old Maryland woman was charged with assault and shoplifting.

Ellison St., 900 block, Oct. 8. A 31-year-old Falls Church man was arrested in connection with the assault of a family member.

Broad St. W., 500 block, Oct. 5. A laptop computer was stolen from a trash room in a building.

Broad St. W., 900 block, Oct. 3. Construction material was stolen from a construction site entered by cutting a padlock on a gate.

Broad St. W., 1100 block, Oct. 5. Two people stole merchandise from a pharmacy.

Maple Ave. S., 400 block, Oct. 6. Items were stolen from a storage bin in a building.

Fortnightly Blvd., 100 block, 9 a.m. Sept. 14 to 8 a.m. Oct. 2. Two necklaces, a bracelet and a watch were stolen from a residence.

Elden St., 800 block, 8:30 p.m. Oct. 5 to 7 a.m. Oct. 6. Four campaign signs were damaged in the yard of a residence.

Grace St., 700 block, 2:56 Oct. 4. A juvenile was observed damaging a campaign sign in the yard of a residence.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

Maple Ave. NW, 100 block, noon Aug. 9. A business paid for a delivery with a check, which was later returned by a bank. Attempts to contact the check writer were unsuccessful.

Maple Ave. SE, 300 block, 11:04 a.m. Oct. 8. A male stole a bag of groceries from a grocery store.

Maple Ave. SE, 300 block, 3:28 p.m. Oct. 4. Two female juveniles stole groceries and alcohol from a grocery store. The girls were released to their parents.
