Fair Oaks Shopping Center, 5:15 p.m. Oct. 29. A gunman robbed a 48-year-old man in the parking lot of a shopping mall. A 23-year-old Manassas man was charged with robbery, abduction and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

Cobble Lane, 13000 block. Tools were stolen from a vehicle.

Fair Lakes Promenade Dr., 12100 block. A cellphone was stolen from a business.

Jermantown Rd., 3200 block. A purse was stolen from a vehicle.

Main Tree Ct., 4200 block. A bag and a purse were stolen from a vehicle.

Maple View Lane, 13000 block. Items were stolen from a vehicle.

Midstone Lane, 4400 block. A charger for a GPS device was stolen from a vehicle.

Waples Mill Rd., 11000 block, 12:35 p.m. Oct. 25. A man claiming to be from the Fairfax County Water Authority knocked on a woman’s door, and as she escorted him to her back yard, another person entered the residence and took cash.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

Dixie Hill Rd., 4400 block. A 2008 Yamaha R1 was stolen.

Fair Oaks Shopping Center, 11700 block. A Chevy Suburban was stolen.

VANDALISM

Dixie Hill Rd., 4000 block, Oct. 25. A swastika was carved on a panel mounted on a wall on private property.

Little River Tpk., 7400 block, 6:08 p.m. Oct. 26. An intoxicated man resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer. A 49-year-old man was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and public drunkenness.

King Louis Dr. and Southland Ave., 10:15 p.m. Oct. 29. A man pushed a female pedestrian and took her purse.

Persimmon Dr., 3900 block, 8:20 p.m. Oct. 28. Two men, one with a handgun, assaulted a man and robbed.

South Jefferson St., 3500 block, 8:08 p.m. Oct. 27. A store employee stopped a man attempting to leave with concealed merchandise. The man assaulted the employee and fled.

Coppermine Rd., 13000 block, 2:53 a.m. Oct. 28. A man assaulted a man entering an apartment building and attempted to rob him. The man resisted, and the other man fled.

Becontree Lane, 1600 block, 3:01 p.m. Oct. 24. A resident found a stranger sleeping in the home. A 51-year-old Reston man was charged with unlawful entry.

Rectory Lane, 7800 block, 2:07 a.m. Oct. 27. Five men, one with a handgun, robbed a 22-year-old man of cash.

ASSAULTS

Rust Rd. and Westmore Dr., 10:37 a.m. Oct. 25. A small projectile fired from a device by two young males struck a male while he was repairing his vehicle. The youths fled on foot. The male refused medical treatment.

University Dr., 4000 block, 1:39 a.m. Oct. 20. A 24-year-old woman reported that a male acquaintance struck her, choked her and pushed her to the ground during an altercation on the way home from a bar. The woman was treated at a medical facility. A warrant charging the male with assault and battery was issued.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

Chain Bridge Rd., 3500 block, Oct. 1 to Oct. 22. Political campaign signs were stolen.

Main St., 9400 block and 9900 block, Sept. 6 to Oct. 25. Cooking oil was stolen from tanks outside two restaurants.

Main St., 10000 block, 9:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Oct. 25. A cellphone left in a restroom of a business was stolen.

Springmann Dr., 10600 block, 10 a.m. Oct. 27 to 8:45 a.m. Oct. 28. A pistol, magazines and a knife were stolen from a vehicle.

University Dr., 3900 block, 1:20 p.m. Oct. 25. Two males entered an optometrist’s office and while one talked to the staff, the other stole three pairs of sunglasses.

Hillcrest Dr. SW, 1000 block, 11:30 a.m. Oct. 27. A female bit a male acquaintance on the thumb during an argument.

Locust St. SE, 200 block, noon Oct. 28. A male found a fraudulent charge on his bank statement.

Maple Ave. E., 300 block, 6:31 p.m. Oct. 24. A male reported that fraudulent charges were made on his credit card account.

Plum St. SW, 800 block, noon to 4:32 p.m. Oct. 28. A woman received a phone call informing her that she had won $10,000. To collect her winnings, she was instructed to obtain a pre-paid debit card and give the caller the account number. After the caller received funds from the pre-paid card, the caller asked the woman for her banking information. She then suspected that she had been scammed and contacted police.

Glyndon St. SE, 200 block, 10:43 p.m. Oct. 26. A male broke a light fixture during an argument with a relative.
