Fire forces evacuation of 12 people on Jay Street NE in D.C.

A fire broke out in Washington early Friday on the 3600 block of Jay Street NE, forcing the evacuation of 12 people.

The fire affected four apartments, said a spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police Department’s Command Information Center. There were no fatalities.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, the spokeswoman said.
