Food bank busy in Arlington

In one week in mid-September, the Arlington Food Assistance Center helped more families than it ever had in its 24-year history. The record was broken before the month was out. Despite Arlington County’s affluence, many people are struggling to make ends meet.

Clients of the Arlington Food Assistance Center line up to get food on a Thursday. The center is open Mondays through Saturdays, and volunteers say there are always people waiting when the doors open in the morning.
