For military families, a season of need
The USO of Metropolitan Washington has set up food pantries at Fort Meade and Fort Belvoir to reach out to troops and their families who are struggling to make ends meet because of repeated deployments and the recession. The Capital Area Food Bank is teaming with the USO to help fill the rising need.

Her family has lived in the Washington area for the past five years, and this is the first year they have taken part in the base’s Thanksgiving giveaway. The USO also set up a pantry at Fort Meade and plans to install more at other bases.
