A Germantown mother and another woman accused of killing two toddlers and trying to kill two other children believed that they were releasing demonic spirits that had possessed the siblings, Montgomery County police said Saturday.
Monifa Denise Sanford, 21, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder in Germantown. Police said Norell Harris, a 1-year-old boy, and Zyana Harris, a 2-year-old girl, died from multiple stab wounds, and Taniya Harris, 5, and Martello Harris, 8, were hospitalized. Zakieya L. Avery, 28, the children’s mother, was also charged with the same crimes. Police said Sanford lived with the family. Montogomery County Police/European Pressphoto Agency Buy Photo
