Person fatally struck by Metro train

A person was fatally struck by a Metro train at the Columbia Heights station on Saturday, Metro spokeswoman Caroline Laurin said.

The incident happened about 3 p.m. Laurin said it is believed that the person was intentionally in front of the train.

Trains were delayed by 20 to 30 minutes.

Police and emergency crews were working to identify the victim.

One charged in death of Northwest man

A 26-year-old man was arrested Friday night in connection with the death of Andre McIntyre, 46, of Northwest Washington.

McIntyre died after being found early on March 1 in the 300 block of Ridge Road in Southeast with blunt trauma to his head, police said.

Police said they arrested Antonio Williams, whose address was unknown. He was charged with second-degree murder, they said.

Man killed during attempted robbery

A 26-year-old Northeast Washington man was fatally shot after he and an accomplice tried to rob an apartment in Prince George’s County on Friday night, according to police.

John Manigault, 26, was shot after he and one of the occupants of the Suitland apartment fought over Manigault’s gun, police said.

The wounded Manigault and a second man ran from the apartment in the 2600 block of Shadyside Avenue and got into a car, where a third man was allegedly waiting, police said.

Police said Manigault was taken first to a firehouse, then to a hospital where he died..

Police chase ends with fatal crash

Anne Arundel County police say a man is dead after a fight and a police chase that ended when a car crashed into a tree.

Police say that James Patrick Darcy Jr., 29, of Annapolis was killed early Saturday in the crash.

Police say the incident started about 4 a.m. on St. Margaret’s Road near Meadow Valley Drive. John Kinlein, 27, of Baltimore stopped his 2011 Mitsubishi to help someone with a disabled vehicle. But a confrontation broke out with an occupant of the disabled vehicle.

An officer saw the Mitsubishi back up and hit Nathan Dunn Jr., 19, of Annapolis. Dunn grabbed onto the car and was dragged a short distance.

An officer tried to stop the Mitsubishi, chasing it for a mile before the driver lost control of the car and hit the tree.

SUV driver wanted on murder warrant

Police are seeking a 27-year-old Laurel man on an arrest warrant charging murder after he allegedly struck a man with his SUV.

Antione Kaliph Cauley got into an altercation with Matthew Cavin, 24, in a parking lot in the 7600 block of South Arbory Lane in Laurel late Friday night, Laurel police said.

Police said they were told that after Cavin was hit, Cauley drove off. Cavin died at the scene.

Midshipman dies after skateboarding accident

A 20-year-old midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis died Saturday after being injured in a skateboarding accident, the academy said.

Hans Loewen, 20, of Hampstead, N.C., died at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, the academy said. He was injured March 22 while on a break from the academy at Maryland’s Assateague State Park, the academy said.

Another midshipman died March 25 after collapsing three days earlier at football practice.
