Man fatally shot in Southeast D.C., woman injured

A 23-year-old D.C. man was killed and a woman was injured in a shooting Saturday night in Southeast, District police said.

Authorities identified the victim as William Deon Howard, of Southeast.

Police spokesman Paul Metcalf said the shooting occurred about 11:14 p.m. in the 3000 block of Stanton Road SE, just off the Suitland Parkway.

Officers responding to a sound of gunshots found Howard and the woman on the street. The man died at the scene and the woman was taken to a local hospital, where she is in stable condition, police said.

Police said they have no suspect or motive in the case. No additional details were immediately available.
